A higher Call to respond to

I found that I was caught in a whirlwind today at the tender age of 48 years, I am now so impressed with today's inauguration, that it feels as if this is the first day of my life. Why you ask? well I will try to be as short as possible, I saw a man who was my age and he was giving this country all that he had, and trying to help people that he did not even know or even meet. He did not care who like him, he put himself and his life and his family and all he holds precious on the line and made an oath to do something and try to make this country better. Then I asked myself what is wrong with you me "Guy?" why am I not thinking with big unselfish thoughts? So I found myself challenging me to live up to the mark of my potential, and so I vow to do just that and to seize the day. And in response to that challenge I wrote this poem it is a just recap of this day. And seeing that I want others to go through the same torture as I am, I challenge all, to say what it is that you can do or even aim for that which you can do that would make a difference for someone other than yourself and do something for this country? let us all be the ultimate Patriot.

Inspired to a March

Where were you on that Day?
When my country and the world opened their hearts to grasp possibilities.
When this Nation accepted, the man not just a color;
Where were you?
Where did you stand?

I remember the movement lurking in my heart,
When this journey for me had started.
I remember my thoughts they were so unkind;
I remember today the beautiful smiles on all the people’s faces.

The smiles that said we have moved on,
If only for just a moment,
The smiles that said Equality for every one
Thanks for today!

And for a brief moment young and old, black and white, yellow and red this country had stopped,
To rejoice, to listen, to what this colorless man had to say!

His aim rang clear, to echo words heard around the world,
He spoke to all freemen about their responsibility,
Not only to our selves,
But to our brothers and sisters and our neighbors;
And even our so called enemies.

He spoke on the world economy not just our own,
But the part we play and how all men have the right to be free,
To have good health and home stability;
And challenged us all, to be the best we can be.

He reached out for world peace,
That he will employ good dialog as best he can,
His dialog will not be weak and we fight to stay free
Then he gave honor and thanks to our men and women who gave their lives in the military.

His speech unearthed people in our government’s past,
Even slaves who fought for equal rights and their lives too were lost,
And those who’s journey made this country great;
The battle they fought gave us all the great possibility of which we all appreciate.

This journey had been started before some of us were born,
It has more room for us to build on, more room to learn.
He said for us to conserve our energy and to gain more stamina,
We must give from our heart and be willing to play our part.

I know that this task for each individual will not be easy,
But together we can make it.
We need to see this thing through,
We need to be on our mark, we all need to join in on this march.
