The last stand
There, at the bed he made his last stand,
There had not been a war he had not seen or a battle he had not won.
He had no more family and just only one friend,
It was made for him especially; it was his old wooden gun.
They made it through the wars and some mean battles too,
Side by side they moved as one but they were really two.
They respected each other as good mates should,
And when they got their medals, “at attention” that is the way they stood.
The two were inseparable as joined at the hips,
One never left the other when they danced they, both took a dip.
But the old guy was fading as if he would die,
If you knew them at all, then this would make you want to cry.
They were humble to the core I saw them fight with my own eyes,
No harsh words ever came out his mouth, let alone no lies.
And through pain and injury he would keep up his fight,
With that dear old riffle, he came out shooting all through the night.
His wars are all over now and he seems out of breath,
But that smile on his face I will never forget.
As he looked up to heaven and asked the dear Lord,
“Permission to approach the deck and then, May I please come aboard?”
But there was sadness in his eyes when he said “may I please say a word?”
I have friend who has been loyal as any friend should.
There are no more warring but he held up his end
He isn’t human but made out of wood and he is the old man’s only friend.
He has seen me through earthy battles and we have never been apart,
I would like to take him he is the center of my heart.
But the Lord simply said no! And he gathered that he would,
Because there are no more warring in heaven everything there is all good.

sometimes we have good friends and we want them to go where we will or even get all of the things that we get too, but the truth is some of us will not get into heaven because we are not living to the standards of God himself and we will not get by the gatekeeper and the unrighteous will not come. please think on it if you know or have a friend that you love then love him or her enough to pray for him and his or her salvation. That my friend is your job once you are a christian love everyone into the kingdom of God.
